Journey from coast to coast across England

Various, North Yorkshire

A journey from coast to coast across Northern England takes you through stunning scenery and is an adventure you can make on foot or by bike.

If, for you, it’s not the destination, but the journey that matters, take in a beautiful, ever-changing landscape on the Coast to Coast or Way of the Roses routes.

On the Coast to Coast, a 190 mile (320km) walking route, dip your boots into the Irish Sea at St Bees, on the west coast, pass through three National Parks – the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors – and end at Robin’s Hood’s Bay in the east, on the North Sea coast.

The Way of the Roses is a 170 mile (285km) cycle ride between Morecambe, Lancashire, and Bridlington, Yorkshire. This highly popular route passes through the historic cities of York and Lancaster, and charming market towns of Settle, Pateley Bridge and Ripon.

By rail, St Bees is 1 hour 20 minutes from Carlisle, which is 3 hours 15 minutes from London; Morecambe is 3 hours from London.
