Shop like a local at marvellous Doncaster Market

Doncaster, South Yorkshire

With over 400 stalls spanning everything from speciality cheeses to antique treasures, lively, award-winning Doncaster Market is a must-visit.

Doncaster Market is one of the largest in the country. It can trace its origins to Roman times. However it’s in no way stuck in the past and its many accolades – including Best Market in Britain, Britain’s Favourite Market and Best Food Market in Britain – confirm its enduring appeal.

Admire the dazzling display at the Fish Market, and enjoy the theatrical outdoor market, where traders compete for your attention by shouting their prices and deals. Then find speciality cheeses, exotic foods and local produce in the International Food Hall.

A comparative oasis of calm, the Corn Exchange sits proudly at the market’s centre. Built as a concert hall – the composer Edward Elgar performed there – it now houses cute craft stalls.

Market days are Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with an antiques and second-hand market on Wednesdays.

Doncaster is in the North of England, 1 hour 35 minutes from London by rail.
