Follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes around Bristol

Bristol

Visit the filming locations in Bristol used in the recent BBC series featuring Benedict Cumberbatch.

The cast and crew of the BBC’s phenomenally popular TV series, Sherlock are no stranger to Bristol’s streets. The BBC production featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson has used various locations around the city since the series began in 2010.

The Bristol Film Office has made it easy to retrace the footsteps of the stars and put together an online Google Movie Map pinpointing such sites as the tense Guy Fawkes moment in ‘The Empty Hearse’ (series 3), the eerie encounter in the maze with The Bride (Christmas special) and John Watson's memorable wedding in 'The Sign of Three' (Series 3).

Come and visit Bristol's charming streets and beautiful venues that filtered into the life of the world’s most famous fictional detective – including Arnos Vale Cemetery, King Street, Queen Square, Tyntesfield and Bristol Old Vic.
