Enjoy a pint in ‘England’s oldest pub’

St Albans, Hertfordshire

Experience a meal at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, ‘England’s oldest pub’ according to Guinness World Records, where Oliver Cromwell dined in the 1600s.

The ancient inn from circa 793AD, with outside seating, serves up the best traditional English food made by a chef with a Michelin-starred background and is in an idyllic quirky restaurant for whiling away a summer day.

Situated at the foot of a green hill by a lake in 100 acres of parkland with the remains of the old Roman town on one side, and the Cathedral looking down on it from the top of the hill, there are fewer more impressive views in the region.

Afterwards visit St Albans Cathedral, which used to be an abbey, in which the first draft of Magna Carta was drawn up, before enjoying a stroll around the vibrant and historic market city, with exquisite ancient streets and buildings.
