Perfectly sane academics make the case that King Arthur actually came from Shropshire and Queen Guinevere was born in Oswestry. He was actually King of the Votadini tribe who did their pillaging and what-not around Vircoconium (Wroxeter) - the third largest Roman city in England.
The myths and legends surrounding him are located in the very real Shropshire landscape. Now they are all conveniently drawn together on an easy to follow drive trail so you can take them all in. Not that you need an excuse to explore Shropshire, but the King Arthur Trail will give you a reason to find all its important places and some of its hidden gems too.
