Take a wildlife safari in The Broads National Park

Strumpshaw Fen, near Norwich, Norfolk

From the reeds to the trees, get up close to nature and see an incredible 11,000 species, the highest concentration of rare wildlife in England.

In summertime the reeds are filled with birdsong. Overhead fly marsh harriers, kingfishers and darting dragonflies. Hang out in the hides with binoculars and see what you can spot. Shy Otters play amongst the white waterlilies and there’s nowhere else in the UK that you can see the Swallowtail – Britain’s biggest and brightest butterfly.

Start exploring at one of the many nature reserves – their expert staff can tell you where to look and what to see. Climb the tree-tower at Hickling to look the birds in the eye, whilst at Strumpshaw Fen you can even hire your own wildlife warden to take you around – a great way to get the kids interested in nature and answer all those questions.
