Embark on a beginners cycle tour on The Red Squirrel Trail

Isle Of Wight

Looking for your first car free, overnight cycle tour on a beginner’s route? The Red Squirrel Trail is the perfect multi day family cycle adventure, and is mostly on car free rail trail.

Follow the wildlife themed and way marked Red Squirrel Trail from the ferry port, coast to coast across the Isle of Wight.  After a day’s easy riding, stay a night or two beside the sandy beaches of the islands "bay area".  Chose to go "fully loaded" with your luggage on board, or take it easy and have your bags transferred ahead of you each day.  Camp or stay in "cyclist welcome" accredited B&B’s or hotels.  Bring your own bikes on the ferry for free or hire them at the start of the trail.

The beauty of the Red Squirrel Trail is in its mostly gentle sloped, car free ex rail lines, which is perfect for families or those new to cycling. Look out for our illusive native Red Squirrel in the woods and hedgerows on route. Then you can spend the money you saved on leaving the car behind on a family meal out!
