Follow in the footsteps of filmmakers in Lancashire

Lancashire

For film fans visiting Lancashire for the first time can lead to a feeling of déjà vu... Lancashire is no stranger to the small or big screen.

A wealth of Lancashire beauty spots have played a role both on the big and small screen, including some of the county’s most iconic industrial buildings.

Queen Street, for example, made an appearance in the Oscar-winning film, ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘Helmshore Mills’, having also featured in the landmark TV series, ‘Sharpe’.

Did you know that the famous platform scenes of the critically acclaimed production of ‘Brief Encounter’ were filmed at Carnforth Railway Station?

More recently, Lancaster Castle played host to a number of famous names when it was transformed into a movie set for the forthcoming Hollywood Christmas film, ‘Get Santa’, produced by Oscar-nominated Sir Ridley Scott.
