Miles of tracks at Avon Heath Country Park offer an opportunity to explore Dorset's internationally important heathland and its rare wildlife.
The park is dominated by lowland and wet heath, acid grassland and heather, and you can spot rare species such as sand lizards and smooth snakes, Dartford warblers and silver-studded blue. You can find out more at the park's Heathland Discovery Centre with displays and games providing information about the park, its habitat and special wildlife.
The park organises regular events, such as sculpture workshops, treasure trails, family activity trails and competitions for children. Volunteers can even help the rangers working with the trees and landscape.
