Take off on an adventure by road or rail to the classic seaside resort of Southport, springboard to England’s Golf Coast.
By road or rail, the scenic 22-mile (35km) trip from Liverpool to Southport takes you along the northwest coast of England with scenic views of beaches, sand dunes and pine woods.
Once there, discover Lord Street, a tree-lined Victorian boulevard that is home to shops, restaurants and quaint tearooms, as well as the grand Wayfarers Arcade with its glass and iron domed roof. Stroll along Southport’s pier, the country’s oldest iron pier, then explore the beach and take a boat trip on Marine Lake, the UK's largest man-made leisure lake.
With a great choice of restaurants, three theatres, a museum and an art gallery, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Golfing fans will be thrilled by Southport’s proximity to 12 of the finest links courses in the UK, which together make up England’s Golf Coast.
Southport is a 45-minute journey from Liverpool Central, itself just over 2 hours from London.
