Milton’s Cottage is located in Chalfont St. Giles and is the only surviving home of the great poet and parliamentarian John Milton.
Now converted into a museum, the four ground floor rooms contain the most extensive collection in the world of 17th Century first editions of Milton’s work.
The museum outlines Milton’s career from seeking refuge from the plague to writing some of the finest poetry in history.
Recent additions to the collection include copies of Areopagitica, Milton’s speech to Parliament on freedom of speech, new pictures and portraits of the writer and restoration of the gardens.
