Beer has been produced at Palmers Brewery for more than 200 years using ancient techniques.
Founded in Bridport in 1794 by a local family, Palmers Brewery has been brewing beer here for more than two centuries. The old parts of the brewery site still look much the same as they did 200 years ago including a thatched roof, the only one of its kind to be found at a brewery in England.
The water wheel built in 1879 is still working as is the 19th-century screening machine. The brewery prides itself on using traditional methods of brewing, updated for the 21st century. Fascinating tours allow visitors to watch every stage of the brewing process and at the end of the tour you can take a long-anticipated taste. You’ll even be presented with your own commemorative glass tankard.
