Unwind in a contemporary English garden with history

Malton, North Yorkshire

Designer Piet Oudolf complements Capability Brown’s 18th century endeavours at Scampston Walled Garden, North Yorkshire.

Thousands of spring bulbs have been planted at Scampston Walled Garden to wow visitors with a vibrant spring landscape on arrival. The season is evident everywhere you look, as the hall gardens and woodland spring to life with a enticing mix of daffodils, bluebells and snowdrops.

Due to great popularity ‘Slow Walks for Busy People’ returns on 13 April and 16 May 2017. These guided walks teach mindfulness and encourage us to take time from our busy lives and appreciate the natural world.

Of course there’s lots to explore in this gorgeous and unique English garden, designed by the renowned Dutchman Piet Oudolf. The Plantsman’s Walk showcases an avenue of limes with a border of mainly spring flowering plants. While the Cascade Circuit walk, about a mile long, leads you to various points of intrigue. Kids can get stuck into a special spring activity sheet or have a run around in the natural play area.
