Whether you’re after cheese, vegetables, meat or real ale, there’s something for you as you travel through Wensleydale.
Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales the valley of Wensleydale has a great selection of local goodies with a smorgasbord of cheese, tasty meats and moreish local ales. At Hawes you will find the home of Wensleydale Cheese and you can enjoy a tour of the Creamery, find out how the cheese is made and then get down to the important bit of tasting the many varieties of cracking cheese.
A bit further down the valley at Swinithwaite you will find Berry's Farm Shop where you can find a selection of local handmade jams and preserves, artisan local bread and eggs from just a few paces away. You will find lamb and beef from their own farm along with homemade sausages and bacon.
After that you will need something sweet so where better than the Little Chocalate Shop in Leyburn where you can watch the chocalates being made on the premises before tucking in. And if you need to wash down all that food why not head down to Masham where there are two breweries with a fascinating history - Theakstons and Black Sheep. Both offer a great chance to get behind the scenes and see the brewing process in action as well as, of course, the opportunity to sample the beers.
