Lying in the English countryside, close to medieval Norwich, is an enchanting luxury hotel with a special literary connection with Agatha Christie.
Bibliophiles with a passion for murder mysteries will delight in the little-known fact that Beechwood Hotel was once the rural retreat of author Mrs Mallowan, better known to all as Agatha Christie.
Beechwood was the Norfolk home of physicians Peter and Margaret McLeod, dear friends of Christie. It was whilst staying with the McLeod’s that Agatha would retreat to the peaceful summerhouse in their English gardens to write some of her most famous novels, often consulting them on their knowledge of poisons!
The hotel has a wonderful collection of photographs and personal letters written by Christie, which are available for guests to peruse.
