Float away on a scenic cruise along the Basingstoke Canal. With 29 locks, the canal is a boaters’ paradise and a great family experience.
From the heart of Hampshire to leafy Surrey, the 18th-century Basingstoke Canal spans 32 miles and is a haven for plants and wildlife. It features more types of aquatic plants than any other waterway in Britain and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Sit back and relax on a narrowboat trip from the Basingstoke Canal Visitor Centre or Colt Hill. Whether you want to be captain of your boat or simply a spectator, you will be surrounded by great scenery.
If you haven’t got your sea legs, you can explore the Basingstoke Towpath Trail by foot. Stretching the length of the canal you’ll see picturesque villages, historic buildings and even a castle along the way.
