See the world under one roof at Great North Museum

Newcastle, Tyne and Wear

Explore the world around us, both natural and manmade in this fascinating museum.

In the heart of Newcastle lies the Great North Museum: Hancock. Bringing together many collections from across the North East, GNM is a window into our diverse world and beyond. A visit here will leave you full of wonder and awe.

From the ancient world there are Egyptian mummies, Greek artefacts and a large-scale interactive model of Hadrian’s Wall stretching across the museum. You can gaze upon the cosmos in the planetarium. Or imagine prehistoric life as you look up at the life-size T-Rex dinosaur replica skeleton.

Unlike most museums, GNM has its Living Planet, a mixture of life-size models like elephants and a great white shark, and live animal tanks and aquaria. Touch screen technology and hands-on investigation will give you a greater insight into how these animals live and survive, even in the harshest of environments.
