See snapshots from Ryedale’s past at Malton Museum

Malton, North Yorkshire

See this extensive collection of artefacts brought to life, from Roman times to today.

Malton Museum, found in the ancient market town of Malton, provides a unique perspective on local folk culture, with an amazing collection of folk history as well as nationally important collection on Roman life in Britain. The collection illustrates every aspect of Roman life in the region and documents two of Malton’s earliest inhabitants.

Elsewhere discover prehistoric pottery, flint and other tools from across Ryedale and get ‘Hands on with History’ via a series of talks and workshops where you can handle objects from the collection which are normally unseen, or held behind glass.

A new exhibition has been the catalyst for a number of new discoveries. Marvel at the ‘Marvellous Map of Malton’, a 17th century hand-drawn map, to discover how the town has changed.
