See Plymouth’s waterfront and wildlife by bicycle

Plymouth, Devon

Britain’s Ocean City boasts a wonderful waterfront area, and provides easy access to the coast and the countryside right from the heart of the city.

Plymouth’s waterfront boasts some fantastic sights as you cycle from Sutton Harbour and the Barbican along the waterfront to Plymouth’s Hoe. Here you will see the iconic Smeaton’s Tower, as well as excellent views across Plymouth Sound.

See the Tinside lido as well as views of Mountbatten, Drake’s Island and the Mount Edgcumbe Estate in Cornwall.

Cycle through Millbay and Stonehouse and you will visit the Royal William Yard – a former Grade 1 Royal Naval yard rejuvenated with cafes and restaurants.

Head north of the city and reach the Plym Estuary and the tranquil National Trust Saltram Estate leading to the Plym Valley trail. You can choose adventure in the purpose built mountain bike tracks at Plym Bridge, or a gentle cruise to the edge of Dartmoor National Park at Clearbrook and on to Tavistock and beyond.
