At Michelin-starred restaurant The French, you’ll find British food at its freshest and best, and in the most beautiful of surroundings.
Good restaurants have a habit of coming and going so it’s reassuring to know that The French in Manchester’s Midland Hotel has a long tradition of fine cuisine. It earned its first Michelin star way back in 1974, when the guide was first published, and the food of today still lives up to this impressive reputation.
Don’t be deceived, despite its name, the menu offers thoroughly British fare that includes Valley Venison, Roasted Cod and Broth of Mushroom.
Most of the ingredients come from one of the restaurant’s own farms in the north of England, giving it a healthy, unfussy feel, a stark contrast to the elegant surroundings of the dining room, where you’ll find yourself eating.
