The RWA is the only Royal Academy outside of London, hosting a varied exhibition programme celebrating outstanding artists.
The Royal West of England Academy (RWA), England’s only regional Royal Academy of Art, is Bristol's finest art gallery, with Queen Elizabeth II as its lead patron.
The impressive Grade 2* listed building houses five galleries - so more than enough to keep you entertained on a rainy day - and is acclaimed as one of the best exhibition spaces in the country.
Its dynamic programme of exhibitions showcases the best of historical and contemporary national and international art, including artists like Turner, Constable, Fedden and Nash, as well as work by its own Academicians, who include some of the country’s leading artists.
The RWA also stages an annual Open Exhibition, which is one of the largest Open Submission exhibitions in the UK. It's been a major date in the artistic calendar for over 160 years. Top your visit off with a visit to The Epiphany - the delicious onsite café.
