Peel away the layers of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast

Dorset

Trace a history that goes back millions of years as you meander Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, England’s first UNESCO Natural World Heritage site.

The awe-inspiring 95-mile stretch of Dorset coastline, from Purbeck in the east to Lyme Regis in the west, represents 185 million years of the Earth’s history. Take a guided fossil walk at Charmouth to uncover more, or seek out secluded beaches set against green undulating farmland.

Tick off  famous Dorset landmarks including Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door – the iconic giant limestone arch – and Golden Cap – the highest point on the south coast.  Follow the stunning South West Coast Path, a mecca for walkers worldwide, or take a bus ride along the Jurassic Coast Road to admire the views.

There’s a variety of seaside towns to explore - including Lyme Regis where Jane Austen used to holiday. Find your favourite spot along the coast.
