Make friends with the equine residents of Sidmouth’s Donkey Sanctuary and see the great work that the charity does for yourself.
Spend the day in the company of 500 gentle, affectionate animals at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon. Founded by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE in 1969, the charity has helped over 15,000 donkeys in need of care. You can take walks around the grounds, have lunch in the Hayloft restaurant, get lost in the maze or take a guided tour and, of course, meet some of the Sanctuary’s four-footed residents.
There are several different breeds of donkey and mule to discover, and many have been rescued from terrible conditions or suffered appalling neglect, before being given a new lease of life at the Sanctuary.
