Meet feathered friends at Lotherton Hall Estate

Leeds, Yorkshire

Get up close and personal with rare birds, tropical mammals and wild-roaming deer at Lotherton Hall in Aberford, near Leeds.

Lotherton Hall is a grand Edwardian country house, full of all the character of a charming family home just like yours!

The jewel in Lotherton's crown though is its Wildlife World. An extension of the original Bird Garden (on the site since the 1980s), this animal park is home to playful Humboldt penguins, quiet tapirs and a collection of rare and endangered birds - from snowy owls to hornbills and the magnificent Andean Condors. Separated into different zones, you'll not only get a glimpse into the lives of these beautiful creatures, but young and old can also learn how to protect them for years to come.

A walk around the manicured gardens is just as exciting. Meander through lush orchards, follow the gravel path around the traditional walled garden or spot the resident deer gallivanting round the estate's parkland.

Lotherton's adventure playground is also popular with its youngest visitors. Children up to 8 years old can go wild on the wooden climbing frame, zip lines and handful of roundabouts, while older children enjoy the Woodland Play Area. And on sunny days, why not round up the clan and play a game of croquet or giant chess on the garden's lawn?
