Prepare to be amazed as Lumiere, the breathtaking, city-wide celebration of light returns to sprinkle magic across Durham City for four dazzling evenings.
Lumiere has lit up Durham City every other year since 2009, and is back this November to round off an incredible year of events across the north east county.
The spectacular festival will bring a series of international and local artists, lighting designers, and community groups together to illuminate the medieval city’s buildings, streets and public spaces, weaving a nocturnal art trail through the city with an incredible series of installations.
The 175,000 visitors to Lumiere in 2013 enjoyed a programme of 27 installations including the world’s biggest helium balloon, a phone box filled with real fish, and a giant 3D projection of an elephant stomping down Elvet Bridge. Further details of the 2015 festival will be announced shortly. Lumiere is produced by Artichoke.
