From archaeology to earrings – discover a rich and colourful history in the heart of Skipton.
Situated right on Skipton’s picturesque high street, the Craven Museum & Gallery is a sandstone, neo-classical beauty home to a unique collection of curios. It allows visitors to delve into the history of a corner of Yorkshire known simply through the ages as Craven.
Inside the museum, collections include Victorian household items, archaeological treasures and even a rare Shakespeare First Folio. Also explored is Craven’s rich agricultural past, as well as mining items and even the remains of a Roman villa. Dozens of activities are on offer to young guests, including dressing up as cave people and a special archaeological dig. Who knows what they might find?
