If alternative music is your thing then we have a feeling you’re going to love this. Since its humble beginnings in the 1980s, WOMAD has been welcoming musicians, artists and performers from all over the globe to the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside.
The weekend-long celebration of music and arts sees hundreds of world-class acts sharing their talents; top picks from the past are Brazilian singer Gilberto Gil, Mercury Prize-winner Roni Size and Peter Gabriel, who helped found the event.
Expect to find ageing hippies and New Age teens enjoying the beats and alternative therapies surrounding the stage. The WOMAD brand has gone global in recent years and there are now WOMAD events in New Zealand, Australia and Chile.
