Celebrate everything that’s great English apples this autumn with tastings, cider making and apple trails in the South Downs.

Autumn is the time for celebrating the apple crop in East Hampshire. You can try your hand at making cider at the four-star Upper Neatham Mill Farm B&B near Alton on a special hands-on weekend break in October.

The annual apple tasting at nearby Blackmoor Estate is a hugely popular free family event. Nibble on over 20 varieties of English apples, watch country craft demonstrations and cheer on Morris dancers.

Elsewhere in Selborne, children can follow a trail to find apples and tortoises at Gilbert White’s House (the pioneering English naturalist owned a pet tortoise) during the half-term autumn holiday.
