‘Memories of August 1914’ was a one-off event held 23rd – 27th July 2014, which commemorated Liverpool’s remarkable contribution at the beginning of World War One.
The city played host to one of the UK’s landmark commemorative events and delivered a unique experience featuring giant marionettes which attracted crowds in excess of 1,000,000 people.
During a three day street theatre extravaganza, 25 miles around the city centre and suburban neighbourhoods and parks were covered and enjoyed by many visitors who travelled from beyond the region. This poignant spectacular included a jaw-dropping visual treat from the extraordinary Royal De Luxe; a company of inventors, stuntmen, scrap merchants and poets. Liverpool was showcased at its very best!
