Get your hands on Bath’s treasure trove

Bath, Somerset

See the Beau Street Hoard of 17,000 silver coins and hear tales of Roman times in a range of new hands-on activities at the famous Roman Baths.

Visit the Roman Baths in Bath for a child-friendly day out.  Children of all ages can find out about life in Roman times, following where Romans walked around the steaming Great Bath.

Explore the Roman site through computer reconstructions and film projections, meet costumed characters and listen to their stories on the special children’s audio guide, narrated by children’s author Michael Rosen.  Hear tales of witchcraft and curses and be careful not to get turned into stone by the scary Gorgon head.

View the newly unveiled Beau Street Hoard, the largest cache of coins ever found in the UK by a professional archaeologist. The coins were found fused together into a large block, hidden away under a floor and are estimated to be worth £150,000.
