Get up close with swans

Abbotsbury, Dorset

Abbotsbury Swannery is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans.

All eyes are peeled as a cygnet hatches out of an egg on the pathway - on average there are more than 100 nests producing more than 600 cygnets for visitors to walk amongst each year. Kids can get lost in the giant willow maze and squeal away in the swinging nests play area.

Finish your day with a walk around this popular, picture-postcard village steeped in history and surrounded by spectacular scenery. If your little ones still have energy to burn why not race to the summit of Abbotsbury Hill and be rewarded with panoramas over Chesil Beach, Portland, Lyme Bay and the East Devon coastline.
