Fossils and sandcastles at Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis, Dorset

Discover the pretty seaside town of Lyme Regis on Dorset's world famous Jurassic Coast.

Lyme Regis is a little gem nestled in the heart of the Jurassic Coast with a safe sandy beach, pretty cobb harbour and fascinating town to explore. Wander through the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve, one of the finest wilderness areas in Great Britain with excellent geological exposures from the Triassic, Cretaceous and Jurassic eras. It’s internationally famous for fossils. You can also take a boat trip along the Jurassic Coast to explore it from a different perspective.

Away from the beach and harbour, Lyme Regis is a narrow tangle of streets with small independent shops selling local arts, antiques and crafts, great for something a little different. Kids will love Alice’s Bear Shop with its Hospital for Poorly Bears and Dolls.

For a special evening, try the fresh British seafood simply served at Mark Hix Oyster and Fish House. Fine dining with stunning views over the beach and Cobb harbour.
