A food-filled break in Yorkshire’s food capital

Malton, North Yorkshire

Eat locally sourced food, from breakfast to dinner, in the thriving market town of Malton, on the edge of the North York Moors.

With big-hitters like Antonio Carluccio singing the praises of Malton and its annual Food Lovers Festival, the town has become a hub of foodie excellence. Stay at the Talbot Hotel and you’re right on the doorstep of the Talbot Yard Food Court, where many local artisans have set up base which means the smell of fresh roasted coffee as you perch at the espresso bar, frothy beer from the brewery tap and a cheeky ice cream to go.

Check out the Malton Monthly Food Market (every second Saturday) or the award-winning farmers’ market in nearby Hovingham (first Saturday of each month), and drive out on gorgeous rural lanes to country pubs that take their local produce very seriously indeed.
