Follow in Gregg Wallace's foodie footsteps in Durham

Durham

From farm shops to fine cuisine, set off on a tasty food and drink adventure and enjoy local produce galore in amazing locations in Durham.

Masterchef host and TV personality Gregg Wallace visited Durham as part of his Great British Food Menu series, taking in some of the county’s amazing places to eat, and trying some locally-brewed ale.

Follow Gregg’s journey from Seaham Hall on the Durham Coast, which makes the most of its location with an incredible sea grill restaurant, to magnificent buildings including Durham Cathedral. Plus, get a taste of yesteryear with the traditional food at Beamish Museum.

After exploring Durham’s countryside, what better way to wind down than by tucking into locally made dishes at the Rose and Crown at Romaldkirk, an 18th Century inn in the Durham Dales with a 2AA Rosette restaurant.

Sample some of Sonnet 43’s real ale or Durham Gin and don't gorget to pick up a taste of Durham to take home with you at one of Durham’s many farm shops, including Knitsley and Broom House Farm.
