Head to the Suffolk countryside for a serving of rhythm and blues with a hefty side of delicious soul food.
The blues first hit Suffolk during WWII, when American army personnel were stationed nearby. In more recent years, Red Rooster Festival has picked up the mantle and is expanding the awareness of southern America's folk music and culinary traditions in England.
Red Rooster brings quality rhythm and blues musicians from across the world to the Suffolk countryside in early June. In addition to the blues, R&B, Americana, soul, roots and country music, the festival offers southern soul food aplenty. Expect smoked barbeque ribs, fried chicken, gumbo and more.
Sound City takes place 30 May - 1 June, and this year’s headliners include The Budos Band, Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets, and Dale Watson & His Lone Stars.
