Have yourself a Famous Five adventure

Corfe Castle, Dorset

Follow in the footsteps of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five with some castle capers and a seaside adventure by steam railway.

Start your adventure in Corfe Castle’s mystical ruins – the inspiration for Enid Blyton’s Kirrin Castle in her Famous Five series of beloved children’s books. The National Trust now take care to preserve the castle’s thousand years of history. It’s one of Britain's most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partly demolished by Parliamentarians.

Discover its history as a royal palace and fortress, with fallen walls and secret places there are tales of treachery and treason around every corner. You can stand at the top of the castle for impressive views across Purbeck.

Then complete your vintage adventure and hop on the Swanage Railway that chuffs its way from Corfe Castle station down to the coast at Swanage - in time for lashings of ginger beer!
