Join Riverside Cottage mushroom expert John Wright as you forage in Devon’s woodland fields to identify, gather responsibly and cook some wild fungi.
The day begins with morning tea or coffee and tasty River Cottage snacks before heading into the wonderful countryside near Axminster to begin the forage.
Guests will be taught how to safely identify, pick and prepare wild fungi before settling down to a delicious on-location picnic.
After lunch, guests are invited back to River Cottage, where the resident chefs will demonstrate some mushroom-based dishes and John will analyse and talk about the varieties of mushrooms gathered earlier.
Guests can then sample an authentic forager’s supper, which may include some of their own gatherings, as well as local and seasonal ingredients produced by the River Cottage Team.
