Some of the best theatre in the country can be found in Sheffield as the city is home to the largest regional theatre complex outside of the capital.
Comprising of three theatres – The Lyceum, Crucible and Crucible Studio – together they offer an extensive range of entertainment, from famous West End shows to cutting-edge in-house productions.
In particular, The Crucible is internationally renowned as a producing venue with productions designed and rehearsed in-house. Its unique thrust stage sees the audience sat on three sides. No one is more than 22 meters from the performance, allowing for an intimate immersive relationship with the activity on stage.
Such is the Crucible’s reputation that many a famous name have graced this iconic stage, with Kenneth Brannagh, John Simm, Joseph Fiennes, Dominic West and Joanna Lumley just a few recent big names to mention.
Having undergone refurbishment in 1998, the Crucible has been lovingly modernised to offer comfortable facilities in stylish surroundings and is located in the heart of the city centre, meaning a plethora of restaurants, bars and hotels are in close proximity.
