Experience life as a pilgrim at Winchester Cathedral

Winchester, Hampshire

How does it feel to crawl on your knees up the big stone steps in Winchester Cathedral, just as the pilgrims did on their way to St Swithun’s Shrine?

You can find out how it felt to be a pilgrim, discover hidden treasures, explore the creepy crypt and search for the bones of early kings and bishops on the Winchester Cathedral’s children’s trail. Walk round Winchester Cathedral and you’ll be immersing yourself in more than 900 years of history.

You can take tours of the tower and roof, or join one of the trails specially designed for children to follow, including Medieval Realms and Watchers of Winchester, or the Woodworm Trail and Saints Galore for younger children. Alternatively, why not try your hand at gravestone rubbings or scary gargoyle modelling at one of the cathedral's workshops?
