Contemporary art is leading the way in Margate alongside retro shops and funky bars framed by the trappings of the classic English seaside.
A great attraction for art lovers in Margate is the Turner Contemporary gallery. The gallery is built on the site of Britain’s best-loved painter JMW Turner ‘s lodgings at Mrs Booth’s guest house. The gallery, which is the largest exhibition space in the South East, offers a programme of temporary exhibitions, events and learning opportunities.
The gallery is at the forefront of Margate’s exciting revival as Kent’s new cultural heart and hopes to create a warm cultural space for visitors of all ages.
