Celebrate all things maritime, from mermaid dances to pirate treasure hunts, and test out your sea legs on historic vessels at the Bristol Harbour Festival.
Step back in time on an historical ship or dodge pirates looking for treasure back on dry land at the Bristol Harbour Festival. There’s no excuse not to get ‘all aboard’, as for one weekend only you’re given the chance to explore the famous harbour in one of the M Shed fleet’s historical tug and steam boats. Alternatively, discover the key to engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s genius as you enjoy a traditional cream tea on-board his famous ship, the SS Great Britain.
You can even kit yourself out as a Victorian for old-fashioned photos, if that takes your fancy (dress)… Dry land has its fair share of maritime amusements too, with mermaid-inspired belly-dancing, sea-shanty singing from The Roaring Trowman and, of course, a treasure hunt around the town. Just watch out for pirates along the way!
Bristol Harbour Festival 2019 takes place between 19-21 July, and all events are completely free!
