Use the Fowey Festival as an opportunity to explore the town and countryside that inspired novelist Daphne du Maurier.
The Fowey Festival of Words and Music takes its inspiration from Daphne du Maurier, the celebrated author who lived in the town and wrote about this particularly beautiful part of Cornwall in novels like Jamaica Inn and Rebecca.
As you’d expect, there’s a du Maurier-themed strand to the festival’s programme, although there is plenty of other artists featured too, including various modern-day novelists, politicians and comedians. With talking music performances, exhibitions, river cruises and guided walks of the historic harbourside town (which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), there's plenty to see and do.
Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature 2019 takes place between 10-18 May; a full programme of events and featured guests can be found on the website.
