Stop for a break and spot the sporting theme at The Inn at Whitewell.
There’s a subtle cricketing theme going on here – as you’ll see when they hand you your cricket ball key fob at check-in. That’s because former Lancashire cricketer Richard Bowman restored this elegant old inn, and his son Charles continues the family tradition of offering warm hospitality in comfortable surroundings.
The Inn is part of the Duchy of Lancaster estate, which means spectacular views of the River Hodder and the Forest of Bowland, and lots of walking and fishing to do. Or you could always just settle down indoors and enjoy the picturesque scenery through the windows with a glass of something nice, before retreating to the four poster bed, open fire and restored Victorian cabinet bath waiting upstairs.
