Ride on down to the Didcot Railway Centre

Didcot, Oxfordshire

Enjoy a trip to Didcot Railway Centre, whose magnificent restored engines will take you steaming through most of the Oxfordshire countryside.

Didcot Railway Centre has something for everyone: for children it’s a whole new world of speed and steam; for grandparents it’s a trip down Memory Lane, while for parents it’s a wonderful day out with plenty to interest and amuse everyone.

On Steaming Days (look out for Thomas and Fat Controller visits) you can ride behind these magnificent locomotives, decked out in their Great Western Railway livery, as many times as you like.

Between rides you can explore the Engine Shed and climb onto some of the footplates, see locos under restoration and watch signals being changed with a fail-safe mechanism to prevent collisions.

Then stop for refuelling at the Refreshment Room, or munch your picnic as you watch the main line trains speed by. And if you’re getting into the spirit of the day by arriving by train, Didcot Parkway Main Line Station is just next door.
