Enjoy a picnic and a walk steeped in history in east London

Bromley-by-Bow, London

Three Mills Island hosts a four mile Mills and Thrills circular walk in this area of the Lee Valley, allowing you to explore London through the ages.

Learn more about the history of the largest tidal mill in the world dating back to 1776, and explore around Three Mills Island. Walk along paths alongside the River Lee and the House Mill itself, along with the reconstructed Miller’s House and Grade II listed Clock Mill.

After your walk, kick back and relax on the green with friends or family as you enjoy a picnic amongst the trees, shrubs and wildflower grass meadow.

Let the kids discover the Wild Kingdom, complete with outdoor adventure play and table tennis tables. It’s an innovative and inspiring environment where children can make use of natural materials to build their own dens, or create their own playground. They will also enjoy playing on carefully placed fallen trees, nets, ropes and giant tree stumps, branches and hammocks.
