Enjoy a cycle ride with sensational views at Sutton Bank

Sutton Bank near Thirsk, North Yorkshire

With Yorkshire at your feet, head out on two wheels from Sutton Bank Bikes, a cycling centre located on the dramatic Sutton Bank escarpment.

Based at Sutton Bank National Park Centre high on the moorland road above Thirsk, a specially built 4.5-kilometre flat family cycle trail is at the heart of this cycling hub taking you out along Sutton Bank cliff – a thousand feet up and with thrilling views from every angle. It’s an inspiring location – a real wind-in-the-hair, wow-look-at-that panorama that will have you grinning from ear to ear.

From the aptly named Cliff Trail, link into two other looped way marked routes (Fort and Paradise) for more challenging rides. The whole set-up is great for families and those returning or new to cycling.

As well as bike hire there’s also guided rides and tuition, a bike skills area, bike sales and loads of shiny accessories, plus that all-important café at the Visitor Centre with great cake.

You might not be Sir Bradley, but Sutton Bank is a top location for your own Tour de Yorkshire.
