July events: Holmfirth Art Week

Holmfirth, West Yorkshire

Over 400 artists combine art, music, comedy, theatre and literature for the UK's largest open art exhibition.

During July, Holmfirth is a hive of creativity as a range of fantastic events are held in quirky locations all over town for Holmfirth Art Week - the UK’s largest open art exhibition. See an exciting and diverse array of work from artists from a diverse range of practices, including photographers, painters, textile-makers, ceramicists and sculptors. Venues include quaint village halls, quintessentially English teashops, and the atmospheric Picturedrome - a fantastic, intimate music venue perched on the hills overlooking the town.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Peak District National park, Holmfirth is instantly recognisable as the setting for the iconic British television series Last of the Summer Wine. With speciality shops and markets, bespoke art and tempting treats, plus a packed events programme from May to November, Holmfirth is a great place to stay.  Just 45 minutes from Manchester, 30mins from Leeds and 3 hours from London.
