Unwind with a typical Somerset tipple, an apple crumble and a long soak in the bath at this 17th century country inn.
Pull up a chair and sip some cider, that’s our advice on arriving at The Holcombe Inn. This pub is renowned for its drinks, which include a number of real ales, ciders and malt whiskies. Even the food has alcohol sneaked in; try the Hot Somerset cider and apple crumble or lager battered haddock. Here you really can eat, sleep and be merry.
There are eight bedrooms but Pemberley, with its four-poster bed and Victorian bath, is our top tip. All rooms have views of the Mendips and Downside Abbey, in case you need reminding that there’s life outside Holcombe. In fact, this area is ripe for exploring with Bath, Glastonbury and the Cheddar Caves close by.
