Discover the River Exe Estuary by saddle and paddle

Exeter, Devon

Cruise the Exe Estuary Trail with waterside pubs along the route providing picturesque pit-stops from sporting activity.

Get close to nature on your bike and follow the purpose-built Exe Estuary cycle trail. Or hire a canoe and paddle the calm waters of the canal which runs alongside the estuary.

The route passes through pretty villages steeped in maritime history, with some excellent pubs offering much needed refreshment along the way. One such pub is The Turf, one of the few pubs in England only accessible on foot, by bike or by boat. Have a traditional pub lunch in the beer garden and take in views across the Exe Estuary.

Part of the National Cycle Network 2, the 26 mile trail links Exmouth to Dawlish Warren, via Topsham and Exeter, but convenient train and ferry links mean you can easily do shorter sections. Cycle hire is available from several locations along the route.
