If it’s raining outside head to Nottingham Contemporary art gallery, home to many of the city's world-class exhibitions and a diverse range of events.
Set in the Lace Market district, the iconic building was inspired by Nottingham’s lace-making heritage and designed by award-winning architects Caruso St John. In the past it has held art exhibitions by contemporaries like David Hockney, German artist Klaus Weber and John Newling, who lives in Nottingham.
As well as boasting four galleries, a study room and a shop selling unique items, Nottingham Contemporary also hosts a diverse range of events, including public lectures, film screenings, live music and workshops for children.
After viewing the exhibitions you can wind down in the artist-designed Café Bar, which serves a range of freshly prepared dishes throughout the day, along with a wide selection of drinks.
